UCSF colorectal surgeons have decades of experience and expertise in the most challenging and complex cases. We are a high volume referral center for the region and routinely handle cases that other institutions turn away either because of their rarity or because the patients suffer from multiple condtions making care technically challenging.
Our program recently earned a "high performance" ranking for colon cancer surgery in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Survey, the highest tier a program can be ranked in. This distinction was based on a comparison of patient outcomes, surgical volume, length of hospital stay, and nursing quality, and nurse staffing in more than 4,500 hospitals.
